Davidson Hotels and National Real Estate Development engaged us to help with the naming and branding of the restaurant within Center City, Philadelphia’s upcoming Canopy by Hilton hotel, located in the historic Stephen Girard Building. This iconic structure serves as a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s history and inspired our approach to the name, narrative, and brand identity.
We aimed to create a concept that appeals to both travelers and locals, resulting in The Wayward—a name that captures the spirit of adventure and exploration. The brand embodies a dapper, fun, and unpretentious personality, reflecting Girard’s heritage as a French sailor and his rebellious spirit.
The final brand identity strikes a balance between playfulness and sophistication, positioning The Wayward as a vibrant addition to Philadelphia’s dining scene while honoring its historical roots.
